The ZX-7R was Kawasaki's 748 cc liquid-cooled race-replica supersport, with an aluminium twin-spar frame and a 43 mm inverted fork. The 1996 and 1997 versions were largely the same bike, with 1997 bringing smaller intake ports, six-piston front brake calipers, better mirrors and adjustable levers. Reviewers praised its linear power and neutral handling once leaned over, while noting it was heavy to turn in.
